About FinLens

FinLens helps businesses get the financial documents they need from their customers, from the customer's own Gmail and with their consent. It is open to any company, and it is a product of Value Garage Private Limited, a company incorporated in India.

Why we built it

The documents a business asks its customers for already exist. The bank, the fund house and the insurer have emailed them, often for years. Yet the customer still has to find the right mail, remember the password, download the file and upload it somewhere else. What arrives instead is often worse: screenshots of net banking, a shared password, a PDF forwarded through several hands.

Taking everything is no answer either. A business rarely needs a mailbox's worth of documents. It needs the right statement, the sanction letter, the latest investment statement. Every extra file is more to secure, more to delete and more to explain to the customer.

So FinLens works the other way round: one read-only permission the customer grants with Google and can withdraw at any time, a list of the emails in their Gmail that are likely to carry their financial documents, and a business that takes only the files it needs.

What FinLens does

A business sends its customer one link. The customer approves read-only Gmail access with Google. When the business asks for the customer's documents, Gmail's own search runs FinLens's seven fixed searches — the same for everyone — for proofs of identity, loan and property papers, investment statements, fixed-deposit advices, card statements, and files the customer sent to banks, lenders and builders. FinLens gives the business the list of the emails they find, usually within a few minutes: for each email its date, sender and recipients, subject, its text, and each file's name, type and size. The business fetches exactly the files it needs, whenever it needs them during the consent, and FinLens delivers just those, exactly as they were sent. Any company can use it; it need not be a financial one.

What we hold ourselves to

• Permission first. Nothing is read until the customer approves on Google's own screen, and they can withdraw at any time.
• Narrow by design. Read-only Gmail access. Only the emails with files that seven fixed searches find are listed, never mail in Spam, Trash, Drafts or Chats. Each listed email's text goes to the business with it, as the sender wrote it; who was copied on it is never kept or passed on, except where that text names them.
• Only what is asked for. The business sees what exists, then fetches only the files it chooses.
• Never read inside a file. No person, no text extraction, no OCR, no AI model. A file is delivered exactly as received, and a locked file stays locked: FinLens asks for no one's details to open it.
• Keep almost nothing. No copy of the mailbox. A fetched file is deleted three hours after it is ready, and access ends when the consent does.
• One recipient. What FinLens finds goes only to the business the customer approved.
• In India. Customer data is stored and processed in India (Privacy Policy §11).
• Claims you can check. The Trust page sets out how we protect data, in terms a reader can verify.

Value Garage Private Limited is not a bank, an NBFC or an insurer. It holds no customer money and gives no financial, tax or legal advice.

The company

FinLens's read-only Gmail access, gmail.readonly, is approved through Google's OAuth verification for restricted scopes, and FinLens has been independently assessed under CASA, the security assessment Google requires for those scopes. Its use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Security details are on the Trust page.
